When a hail storm damaged the property of Mr. Gutema, it managed to do so in a manner that was not immediately visible. This is a problem because a hail storm is able to damage roof materials as well as other components of a roof.
Though it was clear that there was hail damage, only $1,220.81 was initially paid by Conifer Insurance Company. This amount was grossly inadequate to deal with the scope of damage that had occurred and to restore it to its pre-loss condition.
