There was a strong wind storm, which caused damage to the residential property of Mr. Foster, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The adverse effects of the wind storm caused damage to the roof as well as the outer covering of the residential property. This can be noticed by the distorted roof shingles being turned upside down due to the high force of the wind, along with the damage caused to the roof flashings as well as roof penetrations, which resulted in leakage of water.
Although it had become evident that a lot of damage had been caused, the insurance company only paid the first settlement of $4,985 of what actually did not reflect the true extent of the repairs required.
It was at this point that the services of SPJ Adjusting were hired to represent the homeowner in the appraisal.
As we embarked on carrying out the appraisal work that we were hired to complete, we carried out a roof to ground inspection of the structure as well as an analysis of all the damaged area that had been caused by the wind. From our analysis, it was clear that all that was needed was a roof tear-off, as opposed to any form of repairs.
With the help of professional representation and appraisal, the final award in the case was $28,640 in favor of Mr. Foster from SPJ Adjusting through appraisal.
The impact of this was that the owner of the premises was able to carry out the necessary repairs and that the entire appraisal exercise would work well even in the situation where the initial settlement of the claim had been inadequate.
